I would suggest going to tlrracing.com and download some of the pro drivers setups. Should give you some better base starting points

I have the Losi 22 SCT. Never ran this truck till last week. I built it using the stock setup out of the manual. Truck has felt great on the track. Best thing I can tell you is to see what tires most racers are running and get a set and mount them up. Some of racers there have ran alot of indoor offroad at other tracks and have a good idea of what tires will be the ticket. Then after you bolt on the new treads you can go out and see how it feels. After that it might take a few tweeks to your setup to get you faster. Best thing besides picking the right tires in my opinion is practice practice and practice. BTW as far as tires, look for anything that would be a very very small pin or bar. Like Suburbs,Barcodes,Ion's,Switches,Handlebars, or Wishbones. Many of these tires are available in a "clay" compound. What compound hooks up depends alot on the track conditions. So you might consider picking up a variety of compounds eventually in case the track starts to groove up or is very damp or dry, but for now just find some smaller pin tires. Some guys will probably be running slicks so you have alot of options available to get started.

Tires and practice are 90% of this game! I would go with very soft compounds. Tire wear is almost non existent and I've had some fast laps with slicks on my buggy. Not sure that slicks are the ticket but it gives you an idea of how small a tread that Paul is talking about.

I have a hpi blitz bone stock with a brushed motor.. slow as beans but fun to drive. I have only bashed with it and never broke anything. I would like to upgrade to lipos and a brushless system in the near future for racing. does any one know of an affordable motor/ esc upgrade?

There are alot of options out there and I know dynamite and speed passion offer some entry level esc's and motor combos for around $100. Castle is around $135 for the SCT combo and the Tekin is at least $250. You may be able to shop around and get prices a little lower. These should all offer good performance over the brushed setup you have. You can always mix and match too with the esc's/motors. I really like the Tekin and Castle products. Some have had good experiences with Orion. Attachments:

Thanks a lot. I will most likely look into upgrades next month or so. I just ordered a B4.2 buggy so I will have to wait a bit for the funds to upgrade. Are the dynamite and speed passion sensored motors? I haven't read about sensored motors enough to even begin to want go that direction. I pretty much need plug and play.

I have seen the Fuze motors in sensored and non sensored versions. I think there are a few difference esc options with the speed passion. The more expensive ones are sensored. There are some racers at the track that are using the Speed Passion and would be able to offer some info. I have had Castle too and never had any issues with very good performance.

Just acquired the XXX, Adult toy. Man , I crack myself up. I think I'll get a sticker made for it "XXX-Adult Toy". Yeah, that's the ticket. Older truck, but is good for me so far. First run with it was at the State Championship and I felt like I was already warming up to it.
