Just got a hotwire setup. I know a few of you guys are using it the track and was just curious who actually understands what all it does. The timing/throttle profiles are semi confusing (as far as how one may affect the other) and I'm totally lost with boost and turbo. Can anybody put some of this in simple English for us folk that don't know squat about electric motors? I'm not so much concerned with my rx8/pro 4 but the 2wd RS pro is kinda new to me

Ive not messed with the tekin escs but if i see it at the track i could probably explain it toyou. They all do basically the same things.the different brand just label the functions by different names.

I know for sure you don't need no turbo! Lol. Boost is really for stock motors to electronically advance timing for straightaway speed. You can go on for days on the hotlink features. Slide your mouse on each option and it will tell ya what each one does. I run mine in stock mode at code 3

Made a call to Tekin and got some questions answered. Best I understand is that the amount of timing advance added via motor end bell or ESC is constant through out the rpm range. Boost is extra timing above and beyond any initial timing but is programmable to come in and and top out with in a set rpm range. Turbo is even more timing that is added in when the ESC senses you are at wide open throttle and is only needed as a short burst of power for long straight aways.
The other thing I found out is that if the ESC is running the most current software the timing profile is changed with the LEDs on the ESC now and not the throttle profile. The only way to adjust the throttle curve now is via Hotwire or go back to older software.

I'll have to say that after updating software and downloading a pre made setup (one of the Losi team drivers settings) my truck is much smoother. I highly recommend hotwire. Don't know how we got by with out it lol

I second that on the hotwire. I think Kevin Stafford has one too. If your motor/gearing is right you can really crank out some good usable power with it.
