Here we go again, while installing a new LRP esc in my buggy, I smoked a Trinity D3.5 13.5 motor that had jsut been put in. . Aggravates me to no end. It was less than 30 seconds afer the ESC was set up. I notice the motor got way too hot and way to noisy.. Then within a few seconds I notice smoke coming out of it .. This is what happens when you buy used.....
I'm going to bed, gotta work tomorrow!!!

I know another Tekin went up in smoke this week as well. Just after being re-calibrated. You guys are making me paranoid.

Good news!! after breaking down my D3.5 It all looked clean and no burnt marks of anything, but my esc was wired backwards from the factory. The orange and Blue wire are reversed with the Yellow in it's middle position (B) but the orange was in the A position and blue was in the C position. I got this from the factory that way and didn't catch it until I started installing another motor to see if it would run.. So after putting the D3.5 back together after a thorough cleaning I reinstall it in my buggy and it ran smooth and quiet.. Now hope it holds up at the track. I need some gearing?? Anyone?? Smoking Joe can you give some gearing tips for the 4.1???

I figured the wires were backwards from what you described
