Just from past experience some of the guys have used the lower cost 4 bank chargers and they will not charge on ac power. The hitec chargers work great and they all appear to be the same but the cheaper ones don't work right for some reason

Just to add an opinion on a couple points. A good charger wont make a battery any better but will charge it to its best.a cheap made charger(not necessarilly in price) uses cheap parts and more often then not will give issues in any of several ways(inconsistant performance and or may not last long). In my opinion go with a dc charger and get a GOOD power supply(one with more then addequate amperage and with the highest voltage your charger will handle). A good used charger in great working condion is alot better then a really cheap charger. And for the long term rc enthuseist your electronics is something youll have way longer then your current car so its better to buy good once then cheap many times.
