how many mah do you all usually run in your buggies?I know larger mahs usually bring heavier weight. how many batteries would you typical meeting to race day for one vehicle? do you normally bring a charger to the races to charge your batteries between races?

I only have one 3800mah 60c pack. I would like one more. yes we all bring chargers. I only have a decent charger that will charge one pack at a time at 8 amps. with the pack I've got my car will run close to 20 minutes, races will only be 5 to 8 minutes max, so with practice and say 3 qualifiers and say a main you may be looking at 40-50 minutes of track time max. Its all about what you got to spend or what you want to spend and if you plan running multiple classes and what classes they may be. chargers with a 12v power supply tend to have higher charge rates, I like the ac/dc chargers because they are a bit more versatile and I only charge my pack at 1xcurrent(3.8amps for a 3800mah pack)so I really don't need a super powerful charger. you can get a decent pack for less than 70$ and a ac charger for about 100$ that will get the job done. if you want to run multiple classes or more packs it goes up from there. let me know what you looking to spend and ill try to post up some links to some options

I have three 5000mah 7v batteries on their way. they should actually be delivered today. I was just curious what the norm for buggies were. I also have a charger that's capable of balance charging up to 6 amps. I use it on all of my heli batteries. I have it rigged up to a computer power supply so I can get any amperage that I need out of it.

Great news, I got the B4.2 buggy in and 5000mah batteries last night annnnnd the batteries don't fit in the tray haha. but luckily they will fit in the SCT which I may run until I get shorter packs for the B4.2. I guess it doesn't matter what vehicle I run, I will be the slowest person at the track lol.
So is there a benefit to running hard pack cases rather than the soft packs? Is the hard pack only to resist punctures and battery fires?

that sux..... I think the hard packs are just a little tougher, may be easier to strap in the car a little tighter, a lot of guys just use the bullet connectors and hook their esc straight up to their packs (but you have to be careful, I'm not sure how much you gain and i have heard of several fried esc's because the pack and esc were plugged in backwards) and the hard case packs have the female bullets built in. with the soft pack you will have to run a deans plug or something similar....I dont think ive seen a soft pack in a race car...thats all i have for my helicopter though......

I am so wanting to run 10th scale buggy, it's been years since I started with an old RC10 gold tub. Those were the thing back in the day. I saw you guys running those the other day and knew that's was for me... Starting to look now...

Tower hobbies has the Rc10 B4.2 rtr with an easy pay of 89.99 if your cheapo like me. I believe they had the race team version in a kit as well. BAustin, I guess Saturday will be the first time you see a soft pack in a car.. I really hope its not the first time that you see a LIPO fire though haha. Lets be honest, I will be going too slow to damage anything lol.

Your really not supposed to run soft packs at tracks. In the future just buy a hard case. I'm not honestly concerned with the fire aspect but I would hate to watch it destroy your car. Once a lipo go's up theres no chance of removing it from the vehicle. It could potentially be a total loss.
